Improved Education and Training for Employment in Morocco

Academy for Educational Development (AED)

December 2004- November 2008

This project is designed to assist the Moroccan Government in: 1) providing young people with portable and adaptable skills, 2) increasing the relevance of school curriculum and vocational training to the job market and to rural life, 3) increasing job creation and improving job placement mechanisms, and 4) integrating information and communication technologies.

REDA’s role is to be responsible for the evaluation and monitoring aspects of the project. Our staff will design the evaluation, prepare data collection instruments and methods, and participate in analyzing the data and preparing final reports. Our staff will develop questionnaires for principals, teachers, students, graduates, employers, and parents (with input from the Moroccan Government), implement baseline, mid-term and end-term evaluations, conduct data analysis and evaluate the impact of the Advancing Learning and Employment for a Better Future (ALEF).

Civil Society and Democracy Strengthening (Tamkeen)-Workshop

USAID - West Bank/Gaza

March 2005

REDA was engaged by Chemonics International to prepare and deliver a 3-day capacity building workshop in evaluation.  The goal of the workshop was to train local Palestinian professionals in impact assessment methodologies.  There were 23 participants from the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Our staff reviewed a large body of material on evaluation methodology and developed a curriculum on evaluation. We prepared slides for the instructional portion of the workshop as well as all the exercises. Participants were grades on a final exercise to prepare an evaluation plan for a hypothetical situation. We prepared a final summary report for the agency.

Translation of Two Stars for Peace

Martine Rothblatt, Author

September 2003 - November 2003

REDA's in-house translator, Ashraf Al-Saeed, was responsible for translating a privately published book, Two Stars for Peace, from English to Arabic with a three-month deadline.  Using the resources of REDA's International Development Division and his research skills, we were able to successfully complete this project to the great satisfaction of the client.   The translation is available on the author's website, www.twostarsforpeace.com.
